I’m Severin Hackspiel, a designer based in Wuppertal. I grew up somewhere around Munich and have been looking for useful things to make ever since. The definition of “useful” is still under construction.
I started with interfaces, spent a year at Ergolabs, four months at HUGE DESIGN in San Francisco and an exchange year in Cincinnati. I studied industrial and product design, followed by strategic innovation and product development — the part where one asks whether a product should exist before deciding what shape it ought to have.
After four years of research at the Wuppertal Institute, I now work with Gut Einern e.V. on FAB.Region. Most of the things collected here happened beside the day job, as these things tend to do.
I have a day job, but I’m always up for a good project or a collaboration. For that, or for something from the shop, send me a message.
